This post is a little bit delayed, but New Years weekend we got our nursery painted and picked up/put together our crib! My sister is actually moving in with us for a couple months because her student teaching placement is closer to our apartment than it is to her college campus (by about 30 mins), and she will be temporarily staying in Liam's room (on an air mattress). This room was previously filled with junk in boxes left over from our move, so we had to get it cleaned out anyway - but I'm SO happy that we got going on this project a little bit. We are such bad procrastinators (especially when it comes to arranging furniture/painting/decorating our apartments), but not this time (at least not with this particular room)!
| Here is my goofball husband the morning after we painted - before he had to move all the furniture into the arrangement I wanted. :) |
I love the way the color turned out - even though it isn't exactly what I thought I wanted! We tried to pick a blue-ish gray color because I really wanted gray walls, but I didn't want a silvery gray because I didn't want the room to look cold. So we tried to pick a gray from the blue family, but what we ended up with was more of a gray-ish blue! Especially when the sun shines in, it really looks mostly blue. But I like it! And I'm not repainting it anyway, so we are stuck with it! But I think it goes wonderfully with the furniture, and I still haven't picked the crib bedding I want, so it's not like it's clashing with anything.
We got this furniture for a STEAL through my work classifieds. We ended up with the dresser, crib, and crib mattress for just $95 (total!!). I still can't believe our luck! The paint on the dresser needs a little touching up (though I might just totally repaint it - maybe go all yellow?), and the front rail on the crib needs screwed on (it used to be a drop side, but doesn't have the pins any more (not that we would want a drop side anyway) so Korey and his step-dad are going to bolt it together). I think the crib is totally gorgeous - and I love that it has a big drawer on the bottom for extra storage.
All we really need now is a small changing table (I'm looking for a white one with open shelves) and MAYBE a glider//ottoman if we can swing the cost (they're so expensive!).
Oh, AND I just need to figure out what bedding set I want! Such a hard decision!!
